Universal Basic Income (UBI) has gained popularity among politicians and policy makers as a means of alleviating poverty. Advocates promote UBI as a means of mitigating the risk of job obsolescence arising from automation, advancements in technology, and globalization. This panel compares the UBI to other public policies, examines alternatives, and considers the propriety of the UBI in light of principles of subsidiarity and the dignifying nature of work.
